etsy here I come!

After what seems like an absolute age of designing, making, planning, researching and generally pulling everything together, I am very pleased to announce that my first ever etsy shop is very soon to open (I'm aiming for some point within the next two weeks...but as we have a short snowboarding holiday lined up next week this may be a bit on the optimistic side. We'll see). Since I first discovered the wonders of etsy, probaby about a year ago now, I just knew that I had to be a part of it. And finally I am...nearly!

My shop and the creations it houses are dedicated to everyone who loves all things whimsy, pretty, a little bit glamorous and downright girly. Hope you like. Anyway, here's a sneak preview of what's to soon come...

"i got soul but i'm not a soldier"

So undoubtedly the biggest bonus of this week was a phone call I recieved from my lovely friend Kathryn, asking me if I wanted to go with her to see The Killers play at the O2 Arena (previously known as the infamous Millenium Dome) that evening because her boyfriend was too ill to make it. Yes please!! I'd already seen them play at a couple of festivals but it was awesome to see them in a big arena setting.

The sound was excellent and they played all their big hits as well as some songs from their new album. Everyone went totally wild for Mr Brightside and it was electric to hear thousands of people all singing along at the top of their lungs.

This pic didn't come out quite as planned but I actually really like the effect and the colours...

erin fetherstone- love, love, love it...

Just stumbled across the work of the fashion designer Erin Fetherstone. She has just shown her Autumn/Winter 09 collection at NY fashion week, but I what I absolutely adore are the earlier, more ethereal dresses from her first few shows. The images below showcase some of them and are taken from a shoot called 'Urban Flowers' photographed by Ellen Von Unwerth. I just love the dreamy, romantic, slightly hippy yet totally modern vibe to the images. Oh and how cute are the daisy headbands...hair decorations rule! Enjoy.

Also loving the fact that Zooey Deschanel is the model in a lot of these pictures. She is one super awesome and talented lady. Most of the time I wish I was her! Apparently she is a friend of Erin Fetherstone and sang at the opening of one of her fashion shows. How very cool...Here's a picture...

if your love were a grain of sand...

...mine would be a universe of beaches.
- William Goldman (from 'The Princess Bride')

This is where I'd really like to be today (images taken in Noosa on the East Coast of Australia during my year of travelling).

However, on the bright side, we have actually seen some sun this morning for the first time this year which is a little reminder that we are over the worst of the hard, cold winter and that Spring will soon be upon us..yay..yay..YAY!

our little lila bean

Hmmm, so my prediction of not having much time after she finally arrived seems to have been on the mark! Hence the lack of a blog post for near on for a year now. But what a (almost year it has been). There has been joy, laughter, tears, sleepless nights and that doesn't begin to sum up the half of it. I suppose I can simply say that it's been a rollercoaster of emotions and new experiences and a huge learning curve for me, curt and everyone who has been involved in little lila bee's life so far. But I have loved every second of it (ok with the exception of some of the more stinky nappies and some of the worst broken nights).

She decided to make her entrance into the world exactly a week late and she has been doing things on her own terms since then! She is now 2 days away from her 9 month old birthday... I figured for the first year surely every month is a birthday...and is already a real little personality. I have started back at work 2 days a week and now after plenty of time getting to grips with mummydom and all things baby related, I feel the time has arrived to start to apply myself once again.

So...hello blog! Hopefully I'll be spending a bit more time with you from now on! :)
