wedding snapshots: canapes and champagne

DETAILS... after the ceremony (we walked away as man and wife to the sound of 'Wild Thing' by The Troggs. Love that song!) everyone moved to the courtyard for champagne and canapes and we had a few formal wedding shots taken by the photographer. We opted for a photo-journalistic photographer as we mainly wanted natural shots that really captured the day. Still yet to see them so fingers crossed they will deliver!

One of the main advantages of this was that we didn't have to waste hours posing for endless pictures and develop jaw ache from all the frozen smiles. We made sure we got shots including all the key people but as soon as they were done we were free to mingle with all our guests and concentrate on having a good time. Which after all, in our opinion should be the whole point of the day!

My cousin Zoe and a family friend Richard are both very talented musicians and provided some fabulous music for us all to enjoy. The parasol I am holding in a few of the pictures was customised for me as a gift by my very talented friend and bridesmaid Natalie. She also created stunning tea light holder table decorations made from vintage cups, saucers and teapots which she decorated with beads, butterflies and other beautiful trinkets- pictures of these to come in the next post.

The last photo above is of the traditional candy buffet that we created for the guests instead of giving favours at the meal. They were free to help themselves to a selection of old fashioned sweets displayed in glass jars at any point during the day and to take a bag of them home with them. We provided small paper bags stamped with our wedding logo.

For anyone who wanted one, I also made a stack of mix CD's featuring a collection of the songs that we played during the ceremony and including our first dance song. I designed a label for them which I then printed out onto special CD labels and packaged them in paper CD sleeves with a track listing attached to the back. For anyone that's interested in the songs we chose- for the processional song when I entered the ceremony with my Dad we played 'Breathe Me' by Sia. When signing our wedding certificate we used a great version of the Massive Attack song 'Teardrop' which is by Newton Faulkner. We danced our first dance to an acoustic version of 'Everlong' by the Foo Fighters- one of my all time favourite songs and bands.

Photo credits - These images were taken by Curt's Dad Peter and my friend and bridesmaid Jo.
